LAU accepts applications for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. Applications are submitted online at lau.edu.lb/apply or via Common App.

Note: An offer of admission is valid only for one semester.

Difference between application types:

  • Freshman Year — For students who have completed Grade 12 and hold a high school diploma (American, IB, British O-levels + A-level, CEGEP, etc.). Must secure permission from the Equivalence Committee before registration.
  • Sophomore Year — For students who hold a recognized Baccalaureate (Lebanese, French, German Abitur, Technical Bac, British 6 O-levels + 3 A-levels, or two completed CEGEP years).
  • Transfer — For students with university credits from another institution. SAT required if fewer than 12 credits completed. Minimum GPA of 2.50/4.00 for probationary admission. Course transfers require grade C or above.
  • Special Students — May take courses without pursuing a degree.
  • Second Degree — Must complete all requirements of the intended school.

How to apply for financial aid: apply online through the Financial Aid page. The financial aid application for Fall 2026 opens November 3, 2025 and closes April 30, 2026. Merit scholarship applications close January 31, 2026.

Requirements

SAT

LAU has adopted a test-optional policy for the Fall 2025 admission cycle. Applicants are not required to submit SAT or ACT scores to be considered for admission. However:

  • SAT/ACT scores are still required for transfer students with fewer than 12 credits.
  • Submitting strong SAT scores can qualify you for the SAT Scholarship (50% of tuition) — see the Scholarships section above.
  • When registering for the SAT, use LAU code 2595.

High-school grades

  • Official transcripts from the last three years, signed and sent in a sealed envelope directly to the Admissions Office.
  • Certified copies of all official certificates or diplomas.
  • Photocopy of Family Civil Status record (Lebanese and Arab nationals).
  • Recent passport-size color photo and ID/passport photocopy.
  • Equivalence from the Equivalence Committee required for non-Lebanese curricula before registration.

All applicants must demonstrate English proficiency via one of the following tests. LAU's institutional code for TOEFL is 2595 (institutional TOEFL is not accepted).
